Break-in-transmission. Can we just
talk a quick second about this book I just (29/05/2013, 11:06am) finished
reading. A graphic (or at least what was meant to be a graphic novel) I
downloaded on my Kindle Fire, only an hour ago, in the hope of getting into the
habit of reading more graphic novels. It’s comes off as a children’s book, but
it actually isn’t. And man is it hella funny! The name is ‘Timmy Failure,
Mistakes were made’ and it’s about this kid, named Timmy Failure who sets up
his own private investigation/detective firm with his pet polar bear Total (yes
the name of his PET POLAR BEAR is Total!) He’s a total rebel, the book doesn’t mention
his age, (which is only about 50 or so pages long, I didn’t bother to count)
but I can imagine that he’s probably around five or six, but he’s so mature for
his age, though as the book title suggests, he does make mistakes. The book
itself finds subtle yet intricate ways of making jokes (or at least what I
perceive to be jokes) out of the most serious things. Timmy speaks in a somewhat
mature and elevated way, which might come off as pompous and aloof-like, but
it’s really confidence (at least to me it seems that way) though it’s very
obvious that he’s a kid. The writing style was filled with irony, which was
partially what made the book so funny. I
just thought that this book was awesome. It’s my first graphic novel on my
Kindle (after having it for close to a year now. I know, I’m way behind time!)
and trust me, it takes the cake for graphic novels including compared to the
ones I’ve read in real life (so far)….Guys, you absolutely have to read this
book, I’ll link the Kindle Amazon thingy down below so you can see what I’m
talking about, as soon as you read it, comment and let me know what you
think….Tell me that I’m wrong!…lolz…This book was awesome!!! =) (Only God knows
why I’m acting THIS excited over THIS book)
Honestly, as the title says, I can't cook, so I read books! And then I blog about 'em.

The Great Gatsby and My awful friends =)
So finally, FINALLY, I’ve made up
my mind, and decided to embark on the harrowingly bitter-sweet task of spending
big dollars to buy the book ‘The Great Gatsby’ by F. Scott Fitzgerald. (Top
dollars Jamaican, otherwise it would be dirt cheap! And I am buying the
authentic edition). Of course, if you guys have been following my shenanigans
on facebook and/or goodreads you would have known that I have been begging,
pleading, provoking, prodding and all those other verbs my friends into
purchasing The Great Gatsby for me, and I’m sure all of you by now should know
that this book has recently been adapted to depict a ‘major motion picture’
(that’s what the Kindle Fire free sample told me *blegh*) starring Leonardo Di
Caprio and that other dude from Spiderman…??? But what you might not know, is
that I’ve been wanting to read this book even before then, cuz since beginning
this blog, I’ve started the habit of reading American Classics and the Great
Gatsby happen to be one of those interesting ones, worth reading along with
Jane Eyre and of Mice and Men (which I might add, I was assigned in literature
class back in high school, but never read it. 0.o). I don’t have the best
history of reading American classics (or any classic for that matter except for
The Shakespearian genre which was a literary dream!) So I decided to buy this book, (cuz no one
wanted to buy it for me) but the thing is, I’m at an odd as to whether I should
watch the movie first or read the book first… I’ve only ever done this once
before (watching the adaptations then reading the book) and that was with
Teenage Drama Queen… I have a habit of making critical analysis of the movie
based on the book, not the other way around… Either way after reading this
book, I’ll definitely be making a review about it so I can have discussions
with you guys about it… So look out guys… Lemme know what your views about ‘The
Great Gatsby’ are if you’ve read it before, tell me what to expect, what’s your
favourite part… Hit me up with a personal email, or a comment, let’s have a
discussion! Hope you have an awesome day and an even better one if you’re
reading… bye!

I finally finished this book Gawd!: Invasion of the boy snatchers-Lisi Harrison

Hey guys, sup? Hope you’re all great and reading just as much!
Where do I begin with this latest book I’ve finished reading. Ugh! Do I start
with the fact that this novel took me a month and a half to read, or the fact
that I had to extend the date on this Library book three times before I
finished reading it? Oh Lordy!!! If you haven’t guessed by now, then you probably haven’t been reading my blog to know that the book I’m talking about
is “Invasion of the boy snatchers”, by Lisi Harrison, a Clique series novel.
As I’d mentioned before in a previous blog post, this is a YA novel, and a very
girly one at that, it definitely had all the characteristics of a YA novel and
then some. I’m not too much a fan of very girly, YA novels, but as I’d said
before, I thought that this might have been a good read to start off with, when
I just started blogging a few weeks back. So let’s get to business!
So the book is about your typical teenage gang of females who band
together to make life a living hell for other females and sometimes males who
don’t particularly ‘make the cut’ in their estimation. As this book is a
part of a series, I would suspect that each individual novel has its own story
line to work with, and as it stands, the story line for this particular
instalment in the series is how new comer to The Octavian Country Day School
(OCD) (The irony of the abbreviation has not been lost on me), Nina, who happens to be the cousin of one of the members of the female
clique, conspires in intricate ways to steal the popularity and boyfriend of
‘Queen Bee’ Massie Block and the boyfriends of other members of the clique as
well. Of course, as one would guess, the girls of the clique (those who haven’t
fallen under Nina’s social spell) try to devise plans of their own to both
humiliate Nina and take back their ‘rightful’ position as top of the social
ladder at OCD and the school’s male counterpart Briarwood Academy. What I found
interesting about this book, though it hardly had an impact on my psyche with
regards to the female gender, is the relationship among the members of the
clique and the ‘Queen Bee’. None was too quick to defy her on any
decision she took, and most seemed to recognize their place around her. There
was a special relationship with Queen Bee Massie and Claire, who shared rooms
due to the unfortunate timing of the renovation of the guest house, the
relationship was closer between them than other members of the group. I have no
idea if this is how the ‘girl world’ works, but assuming that it does work this
way, the world of high school girls is definitely something to look into! I
enjoyed the writing style of this book, though the girly elements was a little
too much for my taste, lip gloss this, Karl Lagerfeld that (obviously the book
is geared towards a different demographic. FEMALES!) My favourite character
would have to be Claire, and I think anyone or most people who read this book
would agree with me, that Claire Lyons is the most real, down to earth girl of
the bunch. I enjoyed the scheming and planning scenes of the book, thoroughly
enjoyed the climax of the book, involving Nina and the ‘grand plan’! Though I
must say, I would have liked a better ending for her. If I had to rate
this novel I would give it 3 and half stars out of five! Interesting premise,
and bit weak in some parts, overall a pretty good read, but dang it took long
to read, and man was it GIRLY! But good job Lisi Harrison! These are just my
personal views about the book, yours may differ, but either way, let me know in
the comments below what you think about this book…Lets discuss!!! =) I’ll plug
my goodreads where you can follow me (somewhere below) and also my Facebook!
