The Great Gatsby and My awful friends =)

So finally, FINALLY, I’ve made up my mind, and decided to embark on the harrowingly bitter-sweet task of spending big dollars to buy the book ‘The Great Gatsby’ by F. Scott Fitzgerald. (Top dollars Jamaican, otherwise it would be dirt cheap! And I am buying the authentic edition). Of course, if you guys have been following my shenanigans on facebook and/or goodreads you would have known that I have been begging, pleading, provoking, prodding and all those other verbs my friends into purchasing The Great Gatsby for me, and I’m sure all of you by now should know that this book has recently been adapted to depict a ‘major motion picture’ (that’s what the Kindle Fire free sample told me *blegh*) starring Leonardo Di Caprio and that other dude from Spiderman…??? But what you might not know, is that I’ve been wanting to read this book even before then, cuz since beginning this blog, I’ve started the habit of reading American Classics and the Great Gatsby happen to be one of those interesting ones, worth reading along with Jane Eyre and of Mice and Men (which I might add, I was assigned in literature class back in high school, but never read it. 0.o). I don’t have the best history of reading American classics (or any classic for that matter except for The Shakespearian genre which was a literary dream!)  So I decided to buy this book, (cuz no one wanted to buy it for me) but the thing is, I’m at an odd as to whether I should watch the movie first or read the book first… I’ve only ever done this once before (watching the adaptations then reading the book) and that was with Teenage Drama Queen… I have a habit of making critical analysis of the movie based on the book, not the other way around… Either way after reading this book, I’ll definitely be making a review about it so I can have discussions with you guys about it… So look out guys… Lemme know what your views about ‘The Great Gatsby’ are if you’ve read it before, tell me what to expect, what’s your favourite part… Hit me up with a personal email, or a comment, let’s have a discussion!
